While I believe in the power of Project-Based Learning as a pedegogical tool, the unfortunate reality is that rigor and learning often gets lost in K-12 projects.Â
I am a standards-based PBL teacher and curriculum designer. I develop units that are cross-curricular, rigorous, and high-engagement. In hopes of supporting other Humanities teachers, I have shared some of my favorite units here, as well as some that I hope to finish designing and implementing in the future. If you are a teacher and would like more information implementing about any of these units, please don't hesitate to reach out to me! My email address is krcaisse@gmail.com.
I spend 4 years developing a 7th grade Humanities Curriculum from scratch. Some of that curriculum can be found in the project descriptions above. I also used a vast collection of articles, videos, and free resources available on the internet. I created a bank of these resources in a Google Doc. This collection is the result of hundreds of hours spent searching and refining, and while you might not find everything in it useful, I am offering it here for anyone else hunting for resources to teach 7th grade humanities! I hope it helps free up time for you to spend on the things you want to :)
